The Idol Radio Show

American Idol
This program is currently unscheduled.

The Idol Radio Show is the original show that started it all.

History of The Idol Radio Show

On Tuesday, January 23, 2007, The Idol Radio Show, hosted by Sir Darryl, made its debut on the Blog Talk Radio network. Originally intended to be a 20 minute, one night a week show, the popularity of the show resulted in a quick expansion. By the time Alan Attebery, aka the Token White Guy, joined the show as a regular guest a month later, the program had expanded to a one-hour, three nights a week show. When American Idol crowned Jordin Sparks as the Season 6 Champion, The Idol Radio Show had expanded to four nights a week and was proving to be a very popular show. Tuesdays and Wednesdays continued to be focused on that night's AI show, with Monday and Thursdays being dedicated to talking about AI in general.

Following the end of American Idol Season 6, Darryl expanded the scope of the show by talking about every day life (or, at least, life as Darryl knows it) and interviewing people outside of the AI franchise. Darryl moved the show to the afternoons, turning it into a two-hour, five days a week show. In addition, Darryl began the All Digital Radio Network, moving the broadcasting of his show to it and adding other shows to the line-up.

Prior to the start of American Idol Season 7, Darryl asked Alan to join him as co-host of the AI-focused nighttime edition of the show. To further differentiate the show from Darryl's daily afternoon show, the nighttime show saw a slight name change to The Idol Radio Show: AI Edition. The second season of the show also saw the addition of Idol Observer and Charlie Spillers as regular guests to the program. Finally, The Idol Radio Show: AI Edition and TheOfficialSoulPatrol.com teamed up to give listeners a way to interact with the hosts during the show. "The Idol Radio Show Interactive Board" was a board hosted by TheOfficialSoulPatrol.com and opened to all listeners to post their questions and comments. Darryl and Alan often read these comments and answered the questions posted on the air.

Season 3 of the show saw the name change back to The Idol Radio Show since Darryl had renamed his afternoon show to The Sir Darryl Radio Experience. Charlie Spillers returned as a weekly commentator on the week's American Idol (Season 8) performances. The show also teamed up with IdolBlogLive.com so that listeners could interact with Alan and Darryl in real time during the show through the site's Shoutbox feature. IdolBlogLive.com Administrators Queen Angie and CB, along with TheOfficialSoulPatrol.com member ChuckRitt, rounded out the cast of regular commentators.

The Idol Radio Show Season 4 sees yet another team-up. This time, the cast of misfits from MyndJack Radio will join Alan for the first six Tuesdays of the season for what is being billed as Special Edition shows. These six special shows will focus on general American Idol topics and past AI contestants. Alan and Darryl will continue to discuss the current season of AI (Season 9), along with regular Wednesday contributors Queen Angie, CB, and ChuckRitt. DJSlim, owner of IdolBlogLive.com, joins the show this season to give his two-cents on the Idol contestants' performances.
